The Chronicles of The Best They Ever Had

Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. -Acts 2:43-47

Crazy coolness verse

I'm not so crazy over christmas music like you folks. Its fun, but the best christmas music is the worship-type songs, so i figure why not just listen to any worship music? Also, theres no need to listen to that Hanson crap....i cant believe you guys, dont get near me with that stuff.
On a more positive note, check this out in Isaiah 61:1-6--

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives,
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to problcaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion--
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
Aliens will shepher your flocks;
foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
And you will be called priests of the LORD,
you will be named ministers of our God.

WOW!!! That is simple amazing!!! This passage lays out our duty as followers of God and as those who have received His amazing gift of abundant life. There are SOOO many people out there hurting and in need of God. We walk past tons of them every day. This passage talks about those who are grieving, morning, and in despair. We used to be just like them, but God came and changed all of that for joy, beauty, hope, and righteousness. So we need to do the same--take this wonderfully amazing gift that God gave us and help those in despair. In verse 4 it talks about rebuilding the ruined cities. We need to rebuild the ruined cities of our campuses. Its an amazing thought! But its more than a thought. This verse says "They will..." Thats a promise from God that we can take hold of and know that it will happen even if it doesnt happen in our time. Also, in verse 6 it says that we are priests and ministers--each and every one of us has something to give to those hurting people.
Man, thats an awesome verse. I should read Isaiah more.
