The Chronicles of The Best They Ever Had

Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. -Acts 2:43-47

Lord, Prepare Us

So, Brooke and I were talking a few weeks ago about how we can prepare ourselves for this summer. The plan we came up with: a 40-Day Fast.

Here's how it works:
In the 40 days preceding the beginning of camp, we will fast from different things or add different things each week. In addition, we will take turns fasting (from food) on different days.
WEEK 1-Friday, April 8th--Add 5 minutes of prayer for camp to your quiet time
WEEK 2-Friday, April 15th--Fast from TV/Video Games/Computer Games
WEEK 3-Friday, April 22nd--Fast from sweets/sodas/desserts
WEEK 4-Friday, April 29th--Add 5 minutes of prayer for camp to your quiet time
WEEK 5-Friday, May 6th--Outreach; do something nice for someone (if it is possible to be anonymous, then be anonymous!)
WEEK 6-Friday, May 13th--Memorize scripture about prayer each day
Last day: May 17th
Staff training begins May 18th

Post a comment saying if you want to take some turns fasting for a day.

Looooove,
Jordan M

For the adding prayer i think everyone should really pray about adding more than five minutes. Thats a good minimum, but i think we could do even better.

Yeah, that sounds really good. Sweets and deserts...that one is hard. I think it would be cool if maybe one week we fast a meal every day and take that time to pray and the money to donate to the camper fund.

concerning the prayer thing, what if we add 5 minutes everyweek? So by the end of the process we will have 30 minutes devoted to praying for camp and what not? it may require revamping the weeks a little bit, but it would increase the prayer going into the summer!
