The Chronicles of The Best They Ever Had

Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. -Acts 2:43-47

BANGARANG!!!

ah yes, every friday instead of class we do an online discussion for eng. 1100, and today a girl posted this as her favorite quote from a movie or book.
If I could have a favorite saying from a movie it would have to be “bangarang”. Okay I know that does not make sense at all. But if you ever watched the movie Hook with Robert Williams you would know that is what the lost boys say all the time. There is no real meaning to the term “bangarang”. I mean in a round about way when it is said you could imply that it could mean: cool, in your face, what’s with that, ewww, amazing, it’s all good. When I was a little kid and I saw this movie I always wanted to be part of peter pan’s gang, even though I would be the only. If you ever watched the movie hook you would understand. Neverland just looks oneiric. Then add the word bangarang and this little seven year old thought she was cool. Plus as a little girl I thought Rofio ( the head boy) was kind of cute and that was his word also. But really if I go back and think about it really for the most part what mad me really enticed to use bangarang was my cousin Chris who always was getting into trouble. You know the bad boy eight year old who had a dirty mouth and spent half of his day in his room. Well Chris owned Hook and we didn’t so, every time we visited his house that is what we watched and it was almost like a delectable treat- eeww I was being a bad little Brooke….Bangarang. Bangarang until the point that I was like in trouble. But really Hook brings back a lot of good memories of spending time with my cousin, like traveling in their van since they had a tv and vcr before anyone else that I knew did, or late nights in the playroom running around like hooligans pretending to be lost boys…well at least a lost girl. But it’s all bangarang.

It just brought back memories of camp. :- D

EXCITING!!!

So i'm really excited about this Friday night.....and you can be too! You may be thinking, "What is this excitement of which you speak?"

WELL, let me tell you--you can come to "The Gathering". There is gonna be some off-the-chain worship THIS FRIDAY NIGHT at Dorton Arena (thats at the state fairground in Raleigh for those who are not awares). Seriously though, i really am excited about it. I'm not sure exactly why i'm so pumped about it, but i'm taking it as a sign that God's gonna show up big and its gonna be an awesome worship experience. Friday night being the night that most people kick back, let loose, and dont worry about school work or anything, i think there'll be a freedom in the worship not usually experienced.

From the little that i've gathered, the service is a collaboration between a bunch of different campus ministries across the state (we even have three people from our worship team at NCSU helping lead during the service!). SO, that means that all of you that can get the transportation should come. Petra and Stephen, you could catch a ride from some people if need be and Jordan you could get a ride with me too.
ANYWAYS, this a great opportunity for a friday and i just wanted to let everybody know. Lemme know if you're gonna make it out!

The Word:

Jesus replied, 'The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. 'Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. John 12:23-27

First of all, i ask myself, "How much have i really died to myself?" Too often i'm doing things out of my own will, my own selfish desires.
And that last part....it seems that there are times when we are asking for God's deliverance from a situation when HE was the one who brought us into that situation. This is something i want to meditate more on....
Anywho, hope that scripture helps ya'll.

The new almost midnight snack :- D

Yes it is. Grits!! I must say they are a must. I am enjoying a bowl of them as I speak. If you have not tried them you should. Use the Quaker instant grits. Take water in a small microwavable bowl and put in the microwave for 2 minutes. Make sure to have butter in the water while it is in the microwave. Then add the grits and garlic salt afterward and walla!! You have the most delicious snack of all time. This delicious and exciting new snack has been nrought to you by the master chef himself.....
until next time, SPLURGE!
